Musician Audio - Draco R2R DAC is as the name suggests an R2R DAC (fully balanced via the XLR outputs), stationary DAC. This is Muscian's cheapest DAC today, but still with similar functionality as the more expensive sibling Pegasus. Here Musician has saved some production costs by having a slightly simpler power supply and cheaper components in some area. It handles a large number of different encoding types and sampling frequencies (everything you might need ...). It has a very relaxed ("analogue" ...) sound that is still very detailed and musical. NB 1! This DAC cannot be used as a preamplifier because it lacks volume control. NB 2! Musician Audio does not recommend using both RCA and XLR outputs at the same time. It can be done, but the sound quality deteriorates significantly. If you value musical reproduction over an array of features and displays, then the Draco by Musician Audio should be on your list of components to audition, as I have yet to hear any digital to analog at this price point that can bring music alive the way this one does." The Musician Draco is a fully balanced, high end R2R DAC with high quality components. Versatile thanks to its complete connectivity, it can also work in NOS (Non Over Sampling) mode to avoid the artifacts that can be generated by oversampling. I2S Pin Configuration of Draco PS: There is no industry standard of I2S connection. Different brand/product has different I2S line order. MUSICIAN Draco is trying to compatable with most of device by the following mode setting method if you are using standard HDMI cable: 1. Select the sound source input to I2S; 2. Press and hold the NOS button for 3 seconds until the I2S light flashes; 3. Press the NOS button during the flashing process to cycle through the phase modes (there are total 8 modes, 1X, 2X, 4X indicator lights are binary mode Display); 4. Stop the operation when you selected the satisfied sound, the machine automatically exits the mode setting function. If it can not playing properly(such as hiss sound) by the above setting. This shall not be considered as a defective product, but just a matching failed. The suggested solution is to use a customized HDMI cable (The pin layout is as above).
