*********** AVAILABLE FOR DEMO ********* Erzetich's Mania is a semi-open headphone with a dynamic driver unit. It delivers a clean (low distortion), airy, detailed sound with good bottom. It is slightly darker than Phobos without missing details in the treble. The V2021 version of the Mania has an updated design, with new CNC machined aluminum cups and a carbon fiber headband. Compared to Mania V2018, the bass is now firmer and more controlled, with cleaner midrange and treble. In addition, it has become somewhat lighter. Mania in brief * Character - Detailed yet balanced. Slightly darker character than Phobos. * Half-open linden wood earpieces * Carbon fiber headband * Cable connection - mini-XLR, which means that the cable can be replaced if you want to change the character of the headphones slightly "These are a very good headphone that are a very easy to get on with listen in that they require no effort from the wearer and don’t present anything at all jarring in their presentation. Some may think this is a bit of a boring sound, and whilst I would understand this being levelled against the Mania I don’t think it is either fair or even accurate. What they do is offer a pretty evenly balanced sound that is untaxing and easy to get on with. If you are looking for an overly boosted upper-mid or top to make a recording sound a bit more immediately exciting then you need to look elsewhere. Likewise, if you are looking for an overly boosted bass response then you are going to be disappointed with the Mania. However, if you are looking for a relatively honest performance that is untaxing and easy to listen to for long periods then these headphones need to be on your list. They do like to be pushed volume-wise to get the best out of them and make them come alive, but at lower volumes I found them to be nice and easy to get on with. What I didn’t get was an overexaggerated out-of-the-head experience which is probably down to the upper frequencies not being exaggerated. In fact, I found them to sound a little bit recessed, particularly in the mid-band until the volume is pushed a bit. However, Find that sweet spot and you will love them, I reckon." The internal geometry of the cup is created for maximum harmony with the titanium-coated driver shapes in order to enable sound which is uniform, detailed and enticingly warm. Mania's Story As with the creation of every Erzetich piece of audio furniture, the dynamism of Mania was created through an approach of rigorous testing. This process – to see which drivers, and combinations of them, worked for the sound desired – was a journey of discovery. The learning process highlighted the importance of the geometry, materials, craftsmanship and tuning of each individual cup. The strong name of ‘Phobos’ required an equally strong name for his younger characterful sister. Mania, or Manea, symbolizes the Goddess of the Dead in Roman and Etruscan mythology and the Greek myth understanding of wild spirits personifying insanity. Language settled on ‘mania’ with roots in thinking and the psychology of an intensely-elevated mood. It’s this essence of intensity of mood that is the concept behind Mania headphones.
