Kiwi Ears Atheia är en hörlur där två olika typer av element kombineras – ett 50 mm dynamiskt element och ett 14,5 mm planarmagnetiskt element. Denna kombination är ovanlig och används här för att dra nytta av båda teknologiernas styrkor: den dynamiska driverns förmåga att återge energi och tryck i de lägre frekvenserna, tillsammans med den planarmagnetiska teknikens snabbhet och detaljrikedom i mellanregister och diskant.
Ljudbilden är avstämd att vara neutral och balanserad, med en tydlig men kontrollerad bas, naturligt mellanregister och en diskant som framträder utan att bli vass. Frekvensomfånget sträcker sig från 20 Hz upp till 40 kHz, vilket ger utrymme för både djup och öppenhet i ljudet. Distorsion hålls på en låg nivå även vid högre volymer, vilket gör att detaljåtergivningen bevaras oavsett lyssningsnivå.
Konstruktionen är genomtänkt även i materialvalen. Öronkåporna är tillverkade i valnötsträ, vilket ger en varm och naturlig känsla. "I’m quite impressed with the Atheia. It boasts excellent build quality and comfort, and its hybrid driver delivers great technical performance for the price.With the stock pads, the Atheia has a smooth, slightly dark, and somewhat bass-heavy sound signature while still maintaining good detail.
However, after switching to the partly fenestrated hybrid Brainwavz pads, the sound signature transformed—becoming much more neutral with a vast soundstage, fully showcasing the capabilities of the Atheia’s driver setup.
